Our Program

At the heart of our Clubhouse are work units

—collaborative teams where members rebuild skills, form friendships, and contribute to the daily operations of our community. Each unit is designed to foster independence, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Business Unit

The Business Unit helps members gain practical office and organizational skills, while promoting teamwork and creativity.

Members take part in:

  • Designing and publishing our monthly newsletter
  • Creating flyers for special events and activities
  • Preparing mailings for our Annual Appeal and outreach efforts
  • Sending birthday and encouragement cards to current and former members
  • Managing snack shop sales and coffee donations, including basic bookkeeping

Enterprise Unit

The Enterprise Unit introduces members to work-readiness and entrepreneurship in a fun, supportive environment.

Members practice skills through:

  • Designing and creating handmade crafts or projects
  • Packaging, pricing, and displaying products
  • Advertising and promoting items in the community
  • Handling customer service and basic sales transactions

Kitchen Unit

The Kitchen Unit brings members together around food, nutrition, and daily living skills.

Activities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and serving daily lunches
  • Making fresh coffee for members and staff
  • Learning about healthy eating and nutrition education
  • Baking cookies, brownies, and other treats for fundraisers and meetings

Wellness & Community Integration Unit

Healing is about more than work—it’s about mind, body, and connection. This unit promotes wellness and builds strong community ties.

Programs include:

  • Tai Chi classes to improve balance and focus
  • Music Therapy sessions for relaxation, expression, and joy
  • Partnerships with the Streator YMCA for swimming, fitness, and recreation
  • Outings such as movie nights, group activities, and cultural events
